When we found out about the Derma Roller, we were excited and scared at the same time. In this Derma Roller review we’ll be finding out whether they actually work answer the question of whether dermarollers can really make your skin look younger?

Does It Work?

derma roller reviewsMy first impression of the derma roller was that it looks like a medieval torture device. No one here was keen to be the first to try this innovate skin rejuviating treatment, after all the procedure consists of piercing your skin with ultra-fine ‘microneedles’, leaving you with very small microscopic holes in the skin. The reason for the piercing is that it stimulates repair, much like more expensive treatments such as laser treatment. By stimulating repair it is argued that you can seriously reduce the visibility of aging, wrinkles, acne scars, sun-damaged skin, and even stretch marks.

The science of skin repair makes sense. Damaged skin will encourage the production of collagen and elastin and generate new cells producing the desired results, such as an anti-aging effect.

Many beauty specialist perform Dermaroller treatments, but doing it in the comfort of your own home has gained some popularity. We’ll be looking at some of the best Derma rollers do to perform this treatment yourself at home.

Unlike some advertising will have you believe, derma roller treatments are not an instant fix. It takes multiple uses to really see improved results. Bear in mind that it will take time for the skin to heal, so it doesn’t even make sense that this will be an instant fix. Honestly, no anti-wrinkle product we’ve ever produced has instant results that are really noticeable. After reviewing derma rollers it looks like you can reasonably expect some results after a month of following the instructions.

Derma Roller Side Effects

There is some criticism about the treatment. For example, some say it should only be performed by an expert, and not at home. This is due to the fact that there is a risk of infection due to the microscopic puncture marks.

One thing to bear in mind is that you need to select the right Derma Roller for your needs and skin. For example, different treatments will require different needle sizes. For fine lines and anti aging treatments, the needle size should be around 0.2mm. In case of deeper wrinkles, scarring or stretch marks, we’ve been lead to believe that a needle of approximately 0.5mm is more effective.

Like any other treatment, it is likely you’ll get the best results when combined with a highly rated anti aging skin cream such. We’ve reviewed some of the best wrinkle creams on the market here. The good thing is that the derma roller treatment would actually increase the effectiveness and absorption of the active ingredients in the cream or serum. Due to the microsopic holes, the product is able to penetrate the skin much deeper and therefore work much more effectively.

Should You Use It?

It all sounds incredibly promising, but still a little scary. It certainly is a breakthrough in beauty and anti-aging treatments. In our Dermaroller review, we conclude that it does seem to work for many people but it’s hard to say whether it really is the best solution for you. It might be worth scheduling an appointment with an expert (for example a beautician who has had proven results for a long period of time using derma rollers) or try it out yourself and then make up your mind.

While derma rollers are shown to be very effective, they can be harsh to the skin. We highly recommend combining this with either a Vitamin C serum (read our Vitamin C serum reviews here) and / or a Dead Sea Mud Mask (read our Best Dead Sea Mud Mask review here).

In any case, we highly recommend you use one of the following (with a derma roller or not) to get more youthful, firmer skin. These top-rated anti aging products are proven to take years of your skin and we recommend combining at least two to get the optimal result in the shortest period of time possible:

1. LifeCell All-in-One Anti Aging Cream
2. Auravie
3. NuvaLift

How To Use A Derma Roller

Because so many of you will be scared to use a Derma Roller, and it’s difficult to explain here how to use one, I thought it be easier I just show it in a video. This video shows someone using it and will explain and actually demonstrate exactly how to use a derma roller. You’ll see it’s not that scary and it’s really easy to use. The product used in this video is the Dr. Roller Derma Skin Rolling System, which is no longer available for sale. However we found a great alternative which has similar customer ratings as the product mentioned in the video.

Best Derma Roller Brand

By now, if you’re interested in trying out this unique method, you’re probably wondering what roller to choose. Fear not, as we went out and investigated the top brands out there. Here are some of the top derma roller reviews we conducted:

On top of that, you’ll probably want to know where to buy derma rollers. My suggestion is Amazon, as it has the biggest selection, lowest prices and has an amazing reputation. That’s the reason we didn’t include the Scientia Derma Roller, as we couldn’t find it on Amazon. The Dr. Roller discussed above comes recommended by several people that have reviewed it as well.

1. Derma Wand Roller

This is a new product which is picking up in popularity. The first time I saw this I was shocked. It is massive! It is advertised as a highly rated hand-held derma roller and cooling ice massager. It does not use microneedling, but it does calm and cool the skin very effectively. We recommend you read some of the customer review before making a decision and figuring whether this is right for you. Use the link below to take you to the Derma Wand customer reviews.

2. New Spa Derma Roller

UPDATE: This is no longer for sale online, however we recommend reading the above reviews

3. Royal Derma Roller

This brand sells at a great discount on Amazon. It’s currently down from $49.99 to $17.74 and this facial clearing device has many positive customer testimonials and reviews earning it second place on this list of top brands. The size of the needles are 1.0mm and they recommend using a Vitamin C serum after using this product.

UPDATE: This is no longer for sale online, however we recommend reading the above reviews

4. ZGTS Derma Roller

After reading some of the customer ZGTS derma roller review we decided to include this brand in the list. It seems to be effective, it appears reasonably priced, but the number of positive customer reviews was less so it’s not being awarded best brand.
